Farm AO Credits in PvP! There is the Guide to Pvp for you. PvP stands for Player Versus Player combat, as opposed to PvM (Player versus Monster, where the monster is AI controlled, or PvE another term used meaning player versus enviornement) and brings a whole new dimension to gaming on Rubi-Ka. To Get Anarchy Online Credits, Pitting your wits against another person is usually far more challenging then fighting against the games AI, however that said it's not without its own potential frustrations so read on and maybe we can offer some help that might make you first steps into PvP a bit easier!
The storyline for AO sets up PvP perfectly, as you might guess PvP is based around the struggle between the ruling Omni-Tek corporation and the rebel clans, with poor neutrals stuck in the middle. Basically it's members of the opposing side that are your ultimate target in PvP combat. Win the combat, you will gain Anarchy Credits.
But it's not a total free for all . . . firstly it is important to understand the 'rules' of engaging in PvP and the considerations that come with it.
As AO is level based it wouldn't be very fair to allow any player to attack any other player as there may be a large difference in the skills and abilities of the players involved. Therefore the game mechanics force players to choose a target that should be at least a challenge.
Levels and PvP
AO uses it's in-built risk analysis system to judge who can PvP whom below level 150. If a player is 'grey' to you when you target them you will not be able to initiate PvP against that player. You can’t get AO Credits from him. While not exactly scientific as a general rule you are normally able to PvP against anyone who is within a +/- 5-10 levels range. This varies between levels as you get up towards level 150
After level 150 it is a free for all! 150-200 that isn't really much of an issue but after 200 characters can be much more powerful so be careful when picking your fights and remember each Shadowlevel is roughly equivalent to five normal levels.
Any character who is Neutral cannot start PvP at all - they have to be attacked first (that is the point of being Neutral after all!). They can then respond with whatever vigor they can muster.
Suppression Gas
AO uses a system of suppression gases that dictate where PvP can occur. This is because the designers probably realized that many players do not have any interest in PvP and wanted to be able to play in Rubi-Ka without the fear of being attacked by another player character. They think it is easier to farm Anarchy Credits. To that effect the gas system was implemented
Basically it splits areas of the game into four types of zones
100% Suppression Gas - In these zones no combat is allowed at all - you can't even hit the AI controlled MoBs. Guards of the opposing faction will target you and attack though.
75% Suppression Gas - In these zones you are allowed to fight AI MoBs only - no PvP is allowed.
25% Suppression Gas - Also called 'Political zones' these areas are where PvP against those of the opposing faction is allowed.
5% Suppression Gas - Only ever found around Notum Wars Towers this gas allows PvP against anyone other then those people in your own guild.
0% Suppression Gas - Otherwise known as 'Mayhem zones' these areas are free for all - Any player can attack any other player (as long as they are within the allowed targeting ranges as explained above)
It pays to know what type of gas is used in the zones you regularly travel through or hunt in. You don't want any unexpected surprises!
There can be different areas of gas within the same game zone - Stret West bank and Holes in the Wall for example ave both 25% and 75% zones within the same game zone.
