Create your character is your first step to begin your COV life, the preparation of making City of Villains Infamy. Let’s show you the creation guide.
Your character’s appearance is extremely customizable. There are an immense number of possible combinations available in-game (billions of billions). In a practical sense, you'd be very unlikely to run into another character with your exact look, unless you went out of your way to make a particular well-known look. In other words, if you make a huge, extremely muscular, green-skinned, barechested hero with purple pants, you'll probably run into someone else who also likes the Hulk. Your character will fight in the game to get COV Infamy.
A hero's costume is broken down into three main sections - head, upper body and lower body. Each of these has 3 or 4 separate areas to configure (for instance, on the upper body you can individually set appearances for the chest, arms, hands, chest emblem, and belt). You define a primary look for each area (e.g., high-tech armor), a primary and secondary color, and in most cases a pattern/texture (stripes, color fades, etc.).
Upon reaching level 20, player characters are able to have access to capes. Capes come in two styles at present (long and short), and have a wide selection of patterns and brooches to choose from. The Capes mantle can also be edited to the players preference.
Upon reaching level 30, player characters are able to have access to auras. Auras are special power affects which become intrinsic to a characters costume. Auras are selected from two criteria - the first being what type of aura (whether it be fire, smoke, gaseous, or just an eerie glow) - the second being which part of the body the aura will cover. Eyes, hands, arms, torsos, and even full body aura’s are all available to the player. You can Buy COV Infamy for your character.
You can set your hero's height anywhere between 4ft and 7ft 6in. You can control the muscularity of the hero as well, defining their build on a scale between lean to bodybuilder. The scale of specific boy parts can also be altered at creation (in addition to the several ICON stores that are present throughout the city.)
When you start designing your costume, by default all colors will coordinate. You can turn this off by clicking the checkbox labelled 'Copy Current Colors Across Entire Body'. While this is on, the same primary & secondary colors will be used on every area of the costume. With it off, you can set each region independently.
There is a button labelled 'Random' at the bottom of the costume design screen. Each time you hit that, a new random design will be displayed.
Your costume choices will not affect your character’s stats. The costume has no effect on game mechanics.
You can use up to 15 characters to define a hero name. You can use punctuation and spaces in this name, so a title such as 'Dr.' or a last name can easily be added. Optionally, you can have the word "The" appear before your name (this does not count against your 15 character limit).
Keep in mind that other players will have to type in your entire name to send you group invites, chat messages, etc. you can group with them to farm Cheap COV Infamy together.
Upon reaching level 20, player characters are able to have access to capes. Capes come in two styles at present (long and short), and have a wide selection of patterns and brooches to choose from. The Capes mantle can also be edited to the players preference.
In order to unlock capes, players must first undergo a series of missions for the City Rep. She is located in Atlas Park City Hall.
