MapleStory Character Guide: Bowmen

Players in MapleStory cannot choose a job when they create a character. But every character starts with the "Beginner" job. When characters meet certain requirements, they can complete the first job advancement and become a Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Pirate, or a Thief.

Now, let’s talk about Bowmen.

Bowmen have dexterity with some power, and in battles, they specialize in long-range attacks.
They handle bows and crossbows very well, and can also use a light sword, blunt weapon, or an axe on occasion. They are adept at avoiding the enemy, and prefer armors that are light enough to maximize dexterity.

The job orders for the bowmen reveal a 2-way job route. In order to advance as one of these jobs, various requirements need to be fulfilled. You should take time deciding what kind of a bowman you want to become down the road before committing to a route.

Go down to Henesys located south of Victoria Island at a prairie, and you'll find Bowman Instructional School inside the Mushroom Park. There, you'll find the Athena Pierce, a legendary figure of Henesys.
Talk to her, and she'll judge your worth as a possible bowman. If you are at least in Level 10 with DEX of 25 or over, you'll advance as the Archer.

From Athena Pierce at the Bowman Instructional School, you'll receive a Level 1 Skill Book called "The Basics of a Bowman". Open the skill menu and you'll see the list of skills you can learn, and with the SP available for you to invest in skills you'd like to master. You'll receive 3 SP for every level up, and some of the skills require you to master other skills first. The book has basic skills of a bowman that specializes in mastering the art of bow, and the skills available in "The Basics of a Bowman" are as follow.

The Basics of a Bowman 

Amazon's Bless
Increases accuracy.

Amazon's Eye
Increases the range of attack for both bows and crossbows.

Critical Shot
Allows you to perform a critical attack with a certain success rate.

Focus
Focussing to temporarily increase accuracy and avoidability.
 
Double Shot
Fires two arrows at once to attack an enemy twice.
 
Arrow Blow
Fires an arrow with authority. Applies more damage than usual.
