Jewelcrafting is a profession introduced to World of Warcraft the Burning Crusade expansion. WOW players are able to make rings, trinkets, necklaces and more, as well as gems for socketed items. Special for any Jewelcrafters are figurines which are Bind on Pickup.
You can begin to learn to cut gems for sockets as soon as you hit level 300 in Jewelcrafting. You can only learn the skills by buying from the Master Jewelcrafter of your faction in Hellfire Peninsula, or various faction vendors that require a certain level of reputation with them before you can purchase the designs.
You will find equipment with sockets on them in Outland and Northrend. Jewelcrafters can cut raw gems into jewels which can then be placed into the socket, giving the item bonus stats. A socketed gem can be replaced with a different gem, but this will destroy the original gem.
The socket can have gems insert into them that add a variety of non WOW money bonuses. If you have a socket able item, you can shift-right click it to enter a special monitor that lets you add gems you may have.
Every socket has a color linked with it: red, yellow, blue, or at times the special Meta socket. The The only gems that can be found wherever in Outland are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and a few uncommon special gems that are destined to go in specific sockets.
Cut gem can be in few different ways, which give different bonus that you can even hardly buy with WOW gold. Every of those bonus are been divide, but any one of them be able to be created from the similar basic gem.
The three secondary colors are combination of two primary colors. In your sockets, they count up as both colors, and they have a bonus the same (but half as strong) as one of the attribute available on their two close relative colors. For instance, the basic orange gem, Flame Spessarite, can have a mixture of one red bonus and one yellow bonus. This could be a joint strength and crit rating bonus, or spell damage and spell crit, or healing and intellect. Most significant combinations are available.
When you really want to match the socket colors, but you have favorite for a difference color's gems then the mixture gems are very helpful. Most non-tanks similar to red gems, so if you have a blue socket, you might use a purple (blue red) gem to plug that slot.
A third level of gems has been introduced from high-end raiding content. We all call that Tier 3, but you are not supposed to expect to see these gems except you are in a high-end prowling guild.
Gems colors are:
• Red: blood garnet + living ruby
• Orange: flame spessarite + noble topaz
• Orange: golden draenite + dawnstone
• Green: deep peridot + talasite
• Blue: azure moonstone + star of elune
• Purple: shadow draenite + nightseye
